[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.[Quran 22:40]
What we deduce from this verse:
1) There are people who are persecuted because they believe in Allah as their lord.
2) However, while there is evil amongst us that oppresses others, there are also watchers amongst us who stand up for truth and provide the checks and balances in society to prevent persecution and oppression.
3) It is by virtue of this group in #2 that the places where God's name is often mentioned such as monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques are protected.
May we all be guided to Truth and stay away from Falsehood. May we all be watchers for the sake of Allah to protect the Houses of God. A'meen.
